Even after just four chapters, I’m sure you’re sick of just looking at HTML and black-and-white text in the browser. I don’t blame you! After all, the book does have the words “Web Design” in the title! Well, in this chapter, you’ll learn some of the basics of how to style a website with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).
If you wish to see the power of CSS in action, visit CSS Zen Garden. Here you can see how different designers responded when asked to use the same HTML document but develop their own CSS document. When the last submission was accepted in 2007, there were 213 official designs— that’s 213 different designs for one HTML document.
I was fortunate enough to have my submission accepted and added to the official list.
